Natural Beauty Essays

Natural Beauty Essays Natural Beauty Essay Natural Beauty Essay Have you ever looked in the mirror, and never seemed to see yourself as what you consider beautiful? A person is not always considered beautiful for their physical appearance, but for how they truly are from inside. The song Natural Beauty from Immortal Technique is a song that gives a message to all the people out there who feel insecure about themselves. It shows that you Just need to be yourself and everything will go smooth, because if you dont find yourself beautiful, then it would give you a harder time to socialize with friends and you would have the feeling of Ewing uncomfortable. A literary device that the song Natural Beauty has is metaphor, for the fact that all the artist is singing is making a direct comparison with a persons natural beauty and with someones who is fake, as in plastic surgery, or would try to imitate to be someone else who isnt them. Now a days beauty propaganda makes people feel insecure about themselves to the point that they decide to imitate somebody else who isnt them. For example, These magazines got you caught in a hustle (line#26). This quote shows that most magazines show famous people ,and they always look so perfect. This makes some people feel less important or even beautiful, than famous people. In consequences, it makes them want to change who they truly are. Another thing is that all the fans that follow their favorite singer, actor/actress idol or anybody else, makes them want to imitate who they admire. A bio polar society that claims to be righteous spray painting artificial melanin trying to be like us is a quote that meaner that they are people out there that are crazy and would do anything to look how they want to. These people are called fanatics. Fanatics have come to the extreme that they would literally get plastic urges, dye their hair, bleach their skin and imitate every single characteristic of the person they admire. And no matter how much you insist on telling them that what they are doing is wrong, they wont listen and claim that what they are doing is right. The bad side about this is that you have to be yourself in order to live life as you personally would like to live it. Women are usually the ones who tend to be more insecure about their weight, appearances, and dress style. Its pretty surprising with how far woman go to make themselves perfect. Were going backwards, from hip-hop to the park, to the experiments by DRP. Kenneth Clark The singer is trying to give a brief explanation to how back in the days there would be people having fin in the park, dancing, and enjoying life. But now all people do is let doctors experiment our bodies. They experiment with our bodies by giving us implants or liposuction, when all you need to do is go out to the gym and work out to have your dream body in a healthy way. These surgeries besides from costing hundreds of dollars, can lead to horrific consequences like pain, infections, allergic reactions, nausea and vomiting. Got you brain washed to the point your bleaching your skin (line#9). Now this quote says something really strong. Your skin color is one of the things youre supposed to be restless severe actions then they seriously need some therapy help, for the fact that you have to stay strong and always love who you truly are. Society makes people change how they look for they can fit in as in make friends or get attention. Now who got the collagen under they lipstick, Arabic hips, surgical sickness This shows that some woman are obsessed to look good that they get a shot called collagen. This is Just a shot that goes on your lips and makes them look fuller. By Arabic hips they mean those implants that fix your hips and butt. This quote emphasizes what women are whiling to do with their bodies to Just get attention by telling everyone that they got plastic surgery too. And if you healthy they make you think youre a manatee. What Immortal Technique mean by they is media, magazines, and maybe those people that are really close to you. They dont mean it in the way that they tell you directly, but in the way that makes you have low esteem and to the point which make you seem fat when youre really not. This matters because youre not supposed to let nobody or anything bring you down. Only you can decide if you w ant to change who you are. No matter what people say, youre beautiful. With a skinny white woman image that the media and specifically the fashion industry pushes upon us, its easy to forget the truth, that real beauty comes with in. You are naturally beautiful and you must always remember that. The beauty industry makes a lot of money off an unrealistic beauty ideal. An ideal that can only be used by purchasing products and getting expensive surgery. They make you hate yourself and the way you look, and therefore it benefits your scars..

High School is Fun, Changes, and Learning

High School is Fun, Changes, and Learning Depending on our circumstances in life, most of us typically went to high school at age 12 and graduated at age 17. This age group according to child growth and development chart are the early and middle-late stages of adolescent life. These stages are Early (12-14 years), Middle (15-17 years), and Late (18-20 years). Adolescence or puberty is a biological event, an episode in our life when we as a growing child experienced changes in physical appearance, psychological orientation, and sociological construct similar to that of a young adult. For instance, changes in the way we perceive ourselves, the way we think, acquire knowledge, solve problems, etc., the way we value our autonomy and identity, and the way we see the opposite sex. REMEMBERING OUR FIRST STAGE OF EDUCATION In the Early and Middle stages of adolescence, we developed self-esteem and individuality, and learn key thinking and conceptual skills, math and  reading competencies in school. Most of us during this stage were already capable of acquiring the  information we need, solve problems on our own, deal with almost any situation, and contemplate our ability to succeed Later in the middle stage, most of us were already sociable and able to accept different points of views. We also spent more time with friends and extracurricular activities than with our family. Moreover, those were the days when we start taking our studies seriously, improved our social skills further, decide on our own, and became more conscious with our personality. Finally, it was the first that we became concern about our future and the career that we cherished today. First Is Not Always Best but Unforgettable The years we had in high school are special and indeed memorable. It was when we first experienced adulthood, learned to value others, saw the need to think, decide, and solve problems on our own. It was during those happy years that we start developing our self-esteem, attempt self-sufficiency, and care for the opposite sex. We were novices, we know so little about the world but it was fun. We jumped for joy whenever solved our math problems. Smile when learned something of value. We were in bliss whenever we worked hard and passed the test. We laughed at almost anything including our own mistake and stupidity. The valuable academic skills and competencies provided by our high school teachers helped us reached our goals and become productive members of our society today. We must never forget that. Moreover, the good thing about high school memories is not about the hilarious experiences we had but the embarrassment in class that taught us to focus more on our studies and endeavors in later life.

Subsidies Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Subsidies - Research Paper Example In particular, subsidies are provided to those industries or sectors which are lagging behind the other sectors in the economy in terms of performance or are not being able to perform up the expected level. In this paper we shall focus on the subsidies provided by the governments of the less developed countries (LDCs) and developing countries. In these countries subsidies are provided by the government on the trading of different goods and services, and can be categorized as energy or fuel subsidies, agricultural subsidies and educational subsidies. However, the World Bank and the IMF has stated that subsidies act as barriers to investment in the developing country by foreign and international companies. This in turn proves unbeneficial for the country’s long term development. It is in the country’s own interest towards its development that the government should abolish subsidies and promote perfect competition. This paper aims at examining the relationship between subs idies and economic growth in the context of developing countries. Visual Arts - The Light Programme Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Visual Arts - The Light Programme - Essay Example To understand the influence of this modern technology to the present society, and how it had influenced several past evens, there should be an understanding on how it was discovered. Historical Development of Television History and development of the television was inspired by a chain of attempts to develop the device. It was argued further that in order to reach its full invention, one inventor improved on the works of the other to gain his purpose in the invention technology. The television invention first got inspiration from the development of the telephoneoscope by Thomas Edison. The gadget revealed a technology that enabled pictures and sounds produced to be transmitted to a separate location that was not the initial transmission area. The device used a wire to relay the sounds revealing the images through electric camera-obscura. This marked the onset of the first device to transmit sound and images concurrently. Edison had made the initial step towards inventing a light messa ge machine (Smith & Paterson, 1998, 10). Though he did not directly participate in the invention of the current set known currently, this device greatly inspired a chain of inventions that eventually influenced the television set. Zworyki though his mentor Rosing later did experiments on Braun’s cathode-ray-tube to attempt the production of a television set. His efforts at Westinghouse in 1923 failed as he did minimal to convince his superiors on the importance of this invention. Through Sarnoff, Zworyki got the funding he had desired to develop the iconoscope in 1929; this device was invented with the ability to scan pictures. In 1939, he was given allowance to be able to transmit images and sound concurrently where he made major progress in the field finding competition from other inventors like Philo Farnesworth. Farnesworth was a creative inventor of the time who had no funding but his ideas to govern his desire of developing the set. He later saw progress in his inventio n as he got financial aid from Californian businesspersons to promote his ambitious desire to develop television set. By 1927, he successfully managed to transmit splotches of light from the camera tubes he had invented. Though not entirely successful, his method to relay images produced a not clear product but in turn proved that his concept would be successful with proper developments. The developments made were greatly impaired by World War II that saw the haul of the invention process. The process to advance on the technology that these two inventors created found major boosts over the years and prompted the marketing of the idea to the world. The marketing process, in 1939 conducted by Sarnoff greatly changed individual’s perspective into accepting the new communication gadget. He had managed to introduce the set into the market making profits through purchases of the sets by most America households. Sarnoff saw the importance to have television for individual entertainm ent and to boost the businesses of the merchants as it provided a platform to advertise their products. This development later prompted other advances to the set by the â€Å"Radio Corporation of America† RCA, Sarnoffs’s company completing the television set known presently. Major Developments and influences of Television Ever since its invention, the television

Organ Donors Essay Example for Free

Organ Donors Essay Almost everyone would want to be able to say, â€Å"I have saved a life. † But by becoming an organ donor, you can be able to say, â€Å"I will save a life. Organ donation is a selfless way to give back to others, and to be able to make a huge difference by giving another person a second chance at life. Unfortunately, the number of patients waiting for organs far exceeds the number of people who have registered to become organ donors. Patients are forced to wait months, even years for a match, and far too many die before they are provided with a suitable organ. There are many stigmas related to organ donation, but most of them are relatively false, and in order to be well informed, you must know what organ donation is, how it works as well as how you can become an organ donor and what organs or tissues you can donate. Becoming an organ donor after death is not only an important decision for yourself, but it is also an important decision for the life that you may have the power to save. (Finn, Robert) II. Body A. What organ donation is and how it works I. Organ donation takes healthy organs and tissues from one person for transplantation into another. Organs you can donate include: kidneys, heart, liver, pancreas, intestines, lungs, skin, bone, bone marrow, and cornea (the front part of the eye). (medlineplus) II. Organ donations usually occur for patients with kidney failure, heart disease, lung disease, and cirrhosis of the liver. For patients who need a kidney or a liver, a living donor’s organs can be utilized, since we are already born with an extra kidney and the liver is regenerative. However, if the patient needs a heart, lung, pancreas or cornea, the organ needs to come from a deceased donor. (discovery health) III. A transplant is usually the last course of action in the treatment of a patient, but if the patient is willing and able, it can be a good option. If the patient consents to an organ transplant, doctors put the patient’s name on a list by the United Network for Organ Sharing, or UNOS.

Toys R Us Sold Essay -- essays research papers

Toys R Us is the world's largest children's specialty retailer. The company operates toy stores throughout the world and is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange. In this paper I will give a brief company history, cite where the competitive environment is coming from, strategies that were attempted, and where they stand today. Toys R Us founder Charles Lazarus opened the first Toys R Us store in Rockville in 1957. The company went public in 1978 and evolved into a powerful international toy vendor, with Kids R Us, Babies R Us and Toyrus.com. It operated 638 stores in the United States and 579 outside the country. Although Toys R Us participates in the Specialty Retail industry, it has identified its major competitors not as other specialty toy retailers, but as department and discount stores, including Wal-Mart, Kmart and Target. Within the specialty retail segment, Toys R Us competes against FAO Schwartz and K-B Toys. The discount and department stores against which Toys R Us competes do not break down their revenue by product segment, so it difficult to gauge the market share of toys that these stores generate. However, as the company moves into additional segments, including children's apparel, it will be competing against these retailers in other segments, as well. In the specialty toy retail segment, Toys "R" Us enjoys a significant market share over both K-B Toys and FAO Schwartz. Toys R Us Inc. revolutionized the toy industry more than four decades ago with its big-box, low-price stores. Toys R Us may be synonymous with toys, but also has its fastest-growing business in Babies R Us, which sells children's clothes, furniture and accessories. The company opened new stores and planned to build new additional Babies R Us stores. Toys R Us ventured into a partnership with Amazon.com to improve the e-commerce division of their business. Internet retailing was cutting into the profits and the market share of Toys R Us. This financial effect was the reason they the needed to improve and establish themselves in the Internet market. This Internet market was clearly the way the trend was going, as indicated by the growth of retailers such as eToys.com and SmarterKids.com. Toys R Us needed to establish itself in this market, since bricks and mortar retai... ...strategy when the initial downsizing failed to take them out of the red or gain back lost market share. In closing Toys R Us needed capital and new ideas. They final option was to sell and bring in new investors with new ideas. The sale has already had a good sign. After the report of the sale shares jumped 5% on the New York Stock Exchange. This could be the start of their comeback. References 1. Annual Report.(2001). Montvale, NJ: Toys R Us, Inc. 2. Fast Food Essay

College students do not have much time to make their own meals on a regular basis because they are busy with work and school. In lieu of home cooked meals, fast food is the number one choice that comes to mind. Fast food is quick, taste pretty delicious, and is inexpensive for the average college student. In many cases, there is a wider variety of fast food places in radius of the school campus to choose from. Even college students can always find what they are searching for in reasonable situations. When there is not enough time to go to the supermarket and buy the essential groceries needed to make a home cooked meal, there is always the quickest solution of going to a fast food place. Here, an employee will make what is desired with little to no wait. Any college student can run in, order what they want, and be back out with their food in hand and still be able to do everything on their agenda without being rushed. Drive through is also always available to those who do not want to enter the facility and for those who own a vehicle. What is even better about fast food is the fact that many places allow to put in a future order. Then there would be no wait for the food that was ordered. No one wants to eat food that does not appeal to their taste buds. Not even the college students whose diet consists of junk food. Students want something that taste delicious when they are eating it. Luckily, there is almost every kind of fast food joint that will appeal to one person or another. Fast food tastes extremely good because it is food that is not usually eaten on a day to day schedule. The taste of fast food will make any student fulfilled with it’s appetizing selections. Money, no matter what day and age, will always be a concern and with the option of buying fast food, it does not have to be a worry. Fast food is not at all expensive to the everyday college student. For seven dollars, a student can have a sandwich, a side, and unlimited fountain drinks. Many facilities have a â€Å"value† or â€Å"dollar† menu where food can be bought for even cheaper than what is seen on the regular, full-priced menu. If seven dollars were to be an issue, a student could get two hamburgers and a small drink for three dollars plus tax. They would still get unlimited refills plus an extra three dollars and change in their pocket. With the money left over, they could go the next day and buy the same thing as the day prior.  Whether it is french fries or a side salad, fast food places give the average student such a wide variety to choose from.
